First Nations Police respond to three home invasions

On Sunday, October 20, 2019, Manitoba First Nations Police Service members were called to a home invasion on Waywayseecapo First Nation.

According to police two suspects forced their way into a home and assaulted a male inside.

A short time later a second report of a home invasion came in and once again he suspects had forced their way into the home and assaulted a male. Police were told that both suspects were wearing face masks and were in possession of weapons.

While officers were investigating the incidents a third call came in about a home invasion. This time the suspects used an axe to break through the door. A male was then assaulted after the suspects got inside the home.

Police located an SUV that was used in the first incident by the suspects and arrested one of the suspects.

Officers learned the identity of the second suspect and went to a home in the community but as they arrived the suspect bolted from police and dove into a nearby lake in an effort to escape.

Police were able to take the second suspect into custody with the help of Police Service Dog ‘CETO’.
