Three deaths and 90 new cases of COVID-19 identified Thursday

90 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Three additional deaths reported due to the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Southeast Personal Care Home;
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at St. Boniface Hospital unit B5; and
  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 4.9 per cent provincially and 3.9 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 30,507.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 13 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 43 cases in the Northern health region;
  • eight cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • three cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 23 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,582 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 28,063 people listed as recovered.

244 people are being treated in the hospital of which 92 are considered infectious. 32 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 14 of them still considered infectious.

862 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,890 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 495,715 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared at the Rady Jewish Community Centre Early Learning Centre (Grosvenor) in Winnipeg and the Grassroots Early Learning and Child Care Centre in Thompson.
