Three busted for weapons offences after police stop stolen vehicle

Three people are in custody after getting stopped in a stolen vehicle.

Police say that just before 1:00 am on July 20, 2018, a stolen vehicle was spotted near McPhillips Street and Selkirk Avenue. Officers followed the vehicle and when it came to a stop in the 1500 block of Ross Avenue West the suspects were taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle netted officers multiple weapons including a loaded rifle, a loaded shotgun, ammunition, a crossbow and bear spray.

Police say that the vehicle had been stolen a few days before the arrests in the William Whyte area of the city.

Cherish Marie Irene Henry, 32, Gordon William Kovich, 28 and Vincent Edgar Urniezius, 48, all from Winnipeg are facing multiple weapons and property obtained by crime charges for their alleged involvement.

All three were detained in custody
