A Winnipeg man in his 50s had a bad day after leaving the keys to his car in his ignition after he parked it in the 2300 block of Pembina Highway on Thursday night, August 24, 2017.
Just after 9:30 pm the man realized he had left his keys in his car and when he returned to get them he found some youth inside his vehicle. The youths began driving away as the man ran after his now stolen car and tried to open the front passenger door.
The driver hit the gas and sped off dragging the victim for a short distance causing him to sustain minor injuries.
Police spotted the vehicle at Point Road and Pembina Highway soon afterwards and followed it to the 300 block of Osborne Street where Tactical Support Team members helped to stop it.
Three suspects were taken into custody and arrested.
Police found an Airsoft firearm and a machete on a 15-year-old male suspect. He has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Carrying Concealed Weapon (x2)
Police also arrested a 17-year-old female and a 14-year-old female. Both face a number of charges related to the stolen vehicle. The 17-year-old also faces charges related to a July 11, 2017, theft in St. Boniface.
All three suspect were held in custody.
