Three arrested in shooting and assault incidents

Three people are facing charges in connection to a shooting incident at a house in Portage la Prairie on January 9, 2023.

According to RCMP a home on 3rd Street Northeast was shot at from a vehicle around 12:30 pm. Although several people were inside none were physically injured.

Police identified suspects from a neighbouring home and arrested two males and a female. A search warrant was executed on the residence and vehicle with several firearms and airsoft weapons seized.

During their investigation officers learned that the suspects involved in the shooting had also allegedly assaulted a female earlier in the day.

Sean Baker, 35, from Portage, is charged for his alleged involvement with Assault causing Bodily Harm, Assault while Choking, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Firearm when Knowing Possession Unauthorized, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Weapons Possession Contrary to an Order and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Justin Kilcollins, 31, from Portage, is charged for his alleged involvement with Assault, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

A 23-year-old female from Portage faces charges for her alleged involvement with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief Under $5000.00.

The two males were detained in custody while the female was released and is scheduled to appear in court in March.

The female assault victim suffered minor injuries say RCMP.
