Three facing charges after drug raid in Northend

Winnipeg Police have charged three men in connection to drug trafficking after they raided a home in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue.

Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant along with Criminal Code search warrants around 7:20 pm and took several people into custody.

Officers seized a number of items including:

  • sawed-off pump-action 12-gauge shotgun
  • sawed-off .22 calibre rifle
  • Beretta-style replica BB gun
  • Various calibre ammunition
  • Bear spray
  • Approximately 22.5 grams of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 4 grams of crack cocaine
  • $6,000 in Canadian currency

Police also stopped a taxi that had left the area just prior to the raid near Salter and Flora. Two people were taken into custody and a search of the cab located a number of items that were seized including:

  • stripped-down .22 calibre firearm
  • .22 calibre ammunition
  • Approximately 45.5 grams of methamphetamine
  • $400 in Canadian currency
  • Two mobile phones
  • Packaging materials

James Glen Houle, 30 and Sheldon Derrach Catcheway, 27 are facing drug trafficking, property and firearms related charges for their alleged involvement. Vincent Charles Trout, 39 is facing drug trafficking, property and recognizance related charges for his alleged involvement.

All three accused were detained in custody.
