THOUSANDS MARCH IN WINNIPEG TO SUPPORT THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON

What started out as a few hundred at Portage Place Mall quickly turned into thousands as Winnipeg’s Women’s March gathered steam. The local march was in solidarity with those participating on the March on Washington taking place today.

March organizers said they gathered to send a message to U.S. President Donald Trump that women’s rights matter. Rallies of support took place across the U.S., Canada and around the globe.

In Washington DC it is estimated that more than one million people took to the streets to send the message to President Trump that they won’t be silent during his term in office.

After speeches the Winnipeg march took to the streets walking from Portage Place to Portage and Main and then back. Traffic in the area was tied up during the march and police were on hand but have not reported any incidents related to the march.
