RCMP in Thompson are looking for several teenagers in connection to three stabbing incidents in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 30, 2019.
Police say that around 2:45 am officers came upon a 24-year-old male on Mystery Lake Road who was suffering from a stab wound. Officers say they believe the victim was stabbed by two teenage males and that during the attack several other males watched.
An hour later police responded to a report of another stabbing. This time a 48-year-old male was attacked at the Thompson homeless shelter.RCMP say the man was walking on a path beside the shelter when he was stabbed by two youth. His injuries were serious but non-life threatening and he was sent to hospital in Winnipeg.
Around 5:20 another man was stabbed. The 27-year-old victim had been walking on a path near the Princeton Towers apartment complex when he was attacked by a group of youths and stabbed multiple times. He was taken to hospital and although his injuries were non-life threatening he had to be transported to Winnipeg for treatment.
“These are very serious incidents and our investigators are determined to find those responsible for these senseless acts of violence,” said Insp. Brian Edmonds, Officer in Charge of the Thompson RCMP Detachment. “We know there were multiple people involved in the attacks as well as some that watched these violent encounters; someone knows who is responsible and we are asking them to come forward and share the information.”
Police say that there were two more incidents overnight that are likely related. A hotel security guard and a man walking in Deerwood park were both attacked by a group of youths but were not stabbed. The security guard did tell police that the youths were armed with knives.
