On Wednesday August 12, 2020, police in Thompson were told that a group of people on Juniper Drive were possibly carrying machetes.
RCMP officers located a group of people that matched the descriptions of the suspects. As the officers were questioning the group one of the people in the group pulled out a can of bear spray and sprayed an officer in the face.

An 18-year-old male was arrested and is facing charges of Assaulting a Police Officer, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
The officer was taken to hospital, treated and released.
The investigation continues.
