Thieves thwarted while trying to take catalytic converters

Winnipeg Police arrested two adult males after they were caught attempting to steal catalytic converters from a vehicle dealership in the 700 block of Nairn Avenue.

Police say they responded to the theft in progress around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night, February 16, 2021.

Air-1 was used to cover the area and provide assistance until ground units were able to located the suspects. The pair were found still in possession of tools and placed in custody.

Police say that although they were unable to remove any catalytic converters they did do damage to the vehicles in their attempt.

Alan William Kay, 37, was charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Theft from Motor Vehicle and detained in custody.

The other male, 47, also faces charges for his alleged involvement with two counts of Theft from Motor Vehicle. He was released on an undertaking
