You don’t have to be smart to steal a car!

Police were patrolling in the area of Watt and Chalmers when they noticed a vehicle that had been stolen. The driver of the stolen vehicle made a quick turn after seeing the marked police cruiser and promptly crashed into a snow bank.

At this point the three suspects in the vehicle bailed out and attempted to flee on foot as officers closed in.

Members from the Canine Unit and the police helicopter AIR-1 participated in a search of the area and were able to track the driver of the vehicle to the 400 block of Neil Avenue. The suspect was found 30 metres up a large tree.

Police ordered the man to climb down, which he did, and arrested him.

20 year old Dallas Ross has been charged with Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Possess Weapon for his alleged involvement.

Ross was detained in custody.

The two other people in the vehicle have not been located.
