19-year-old thief leads police in car chase before crashing and getting tracked by K-9 unit

A 19-year-old thief is behind bars after he tried to evade police.

On Friday, December 15, 2017, just before noon the suspect went to a home in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue, broke a window and entered.

Police received a report of the break-in and as they arrived they saw the suspect exit the home carrying a box with stolen property. The suspect ran to a vehicle he had previously stolen and took off with police in pursuit.

Not long into the pursuit officers abandoned it due to the dangerous driving by the suspect.

The suspect ended up crashing the stolen vehicle into a fence at Aikins Street and Prichard Avenue and then fleeing on foot.

Winnipeg Police brought in the dog and the K-9 unit tracked the suspect to a home in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue.

Tyler Robert Bvington, 19 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Break Enter & Theft – Dwelling House, Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, Driving While Disqualified, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was detained in custody.
