THEFT | POLICE STOP CRIME SPREE TARGETING HOMES AND BUSINESSES

Winnipeg Police have busted those allegedly responsible for a crime spree that hit homes and businesses across the city since September of this year.

Three suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday November 9, 2016

The suspects would break into businesses in the early morning hours looking for cash and cigarettes. They used a number of stolen vehicles during their crimes and caused in excess of $100,000.00 in damages to the properties they broke into.

Over their months of activity it is estimated that they stole in excess of $100,000.00 in property and cash.

They were brought down when AIR-1 responded to a break-in involving a stolen vehicle in the east end of the city. The police chopper directed ground officers, including a canine unit to the suspects who had abandoned their vehicle in Elmwood. 

Arrested and charged due to their alleged involvement are Brent James NEPINAK, 22, Dustin Tommy HATCHER, 32 and a 17 year old male youth. They have been charged with numerous break-in and theft related offences involving 45 Break-ins to home and businesses.

The suspects were remanded into custody.
