THEFT | KNIFE WIELDING MAN THREATENS TWO PEOPLE IN ROBBERIES

Winnipeg Police arrested a 41 year old man on Monday after he allegedly threatened two people with a large knife during two separate thefts.

On September 5, 2016 at about 5:00 pm, a male suspect went to a grocery store in the 2200 block of Portage Avenue. While inside, he began filling a shopping cart  and concealing items within a backpack.
   
When the man attempted to leave the business without paying he was approached by staff at which time he produced a large knife. The employees backed away and the suspect took off.
   
A little while later,  male entered a garage on Hind Avenue and began taking various items.He was confronted by the garage owner upon exiting and again produced a knife. 
   
Nicholas Alfred Wright was located by police a short time later and has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Robbery, Break Enter & Theft, Possession of Break in Instruments, Assault with a Weapon 
   
Wright was remanded into custody.
