Winnipeg Police announced on Sunday afternoon that 9-year-old Darius Bezecki was found dead in the Red River.
Police said Bezecki had gone into the river near the Louise Bridge just after 4:30 pm on Friday, July 3, 2020.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Water Rescue Units and began to search the river. WFPS also deployed a drone with thermal imaging was also deployed.
After an unsuccessful search Winnipeg Police took over the search effort and deployed the River patrol, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit as well as a thermal imaging drone.
Police continued to search on Saturday in the vicinity of the bridge.
