In what is being called a terrorist attack a man drove an articulated truck at high speed into a crowd that had just watched Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice killing 80 people late on Thursday.
Counter-terrorist investigators were still trying to identify the driver. French officials have said that a number of weapons and grenades were found inside the vehicle.
Late Thursday evening Manitoba’s Deputy Premier put out this statement on behalf of the Province
My heart goes out to the dozens of innocent victims of today’s terror attack in Nice, France.
On behalf of all Manitobans, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed or injured.
France holds a special place in the hearts of many Manitobans and I know that all citizens of our province, both francophone and non-francophone, join me in condemning this senseless and horrific attack on innocent civilians celebrating Bastille Day.
The thoughts and prayers of all Manitobans are with the people of France at this very difficult time.
