Ten fined for breaching COVID-19 gathering restrictions

Although most Manitobans understand the importance of following the public health orders surrounding COVID-19 some still continue to blatantly ignore them putting people at risk.

In the first week of March enforcement officers issued 89 warnings and 19 tickets. One of the tickets was issued to a business in the amount of $5,000, three tickets were issued to people not wearing a mask in an indoor public place and 15 tickets were issued to individuals.

Of the $1,296 tickets issued to individuals ten were related to gatherings in private residences or outdoors.

Although ticket totals have been on the decline social distancing, gathering limits and mask wearing are still in place.

The province is encouraging Manitobans to continue to report compliance and enforcement issues online or by calling 204-945-3744 or (toll-free) 1-866-626-4862 and pressing option three on the call menu.
