A temporary encampment on the Riverbank along Assiniboine Avenue was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning, June 13, 2023.
Firefighters were called to the scene just before 12:30 am and found several tents engulfed in flames. Everyone in the tents were able to get out and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials warn that temporary encampments ar at a heightened risk for fires. Often the shelters are made from flammable materials and only have one way in or out.
The cause of the fire in under investigation.
