Teenage Girl Stabbed in Winnipeg’s Norwood East Area

A 14-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Winnipeg’s Norwood East neighbourhood late Friday night.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of Niverville Avenue and Champlain Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. on February 22, 2025. A concerned citizen who witnessed the injured girl called 911, prompting the immediate response.

Upon arrival, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) personnel were already on the scene, providing initial medical assistance to the victim. The 14-year-old female had sustained stab wounds and was transported to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable.

According to police, the victim was walking to meet an individual when a group of unknown females confronted her. The confrontation escalated, resulting in the victim being assaulted and stabbed. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

The WPS’s East District, with help from the Tactical Support Team (TST) and the K9 unit, conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The Major Crimes Unit is now leading the investigation and is appealing to the public for assistance.
