Winnipeg police arrested an 18-year-old male in connection to a 15-year-old male being robbed and stabbed at a mall in the Polo Park area on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Police say they were called to the mall in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue around 7:30 pm. When they arrived a security guard was providing first aid to a bleeding victim. The teen victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable.
Other officers in the area spotted an individual believed to be the suspect running nearby. The male was taken into custody following a foot chase.
Police say that the victim was confronted and robbed by a group of people. As the teen made his escape he was chased by the group and stabbed before he go to safety. The suspect then fled.
Police have charged the accused for his alleged involvement with Robbery. He was detained in custody.
