A 20-year-old male is behind bars after he brutally attacked an 18-year-old male in the parking lot of an apartment building on Pembina Highway Friday night, August 31, 2018.
The attack happened while the victim was helping a family member unload a vehicle just before 11:30 pm.
Police say that the suspect ran towards the victim, knocking over the victim’s 7-year-old niece in the process, then repeatedly stabbing him before taking off and fleeing the area.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition but later upgraded to stable.
At this point in the investigation, it is believed that the suspect and victim did not know each other.
On Saturday, September 1, 2018, the suspect was located by police near where the attack took place and place him under arrest
Nathaniel Sean Capay is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, Assault, Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He was detained in custody.
