Teen hit by semi after being pushed into traffic

Winnipeg police are investigating after a 16-year-old male was pushed into traffic on Ness Avenue near Sturgeon Heights Collegiate on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Investigators say two 16-year-old males were walking near the school when an unidentified suspect charged at them pushing the victim into the path of an oncoming semi-truck. The truck was attempting to slow down when it struck the teen sending him towards another vehicle travelling on Ness.

Police say both drivers saw the attack and were able to slow significantly which lessoned the potential injuries to the victim. Paramedics took the male to hospital in critical condition but he has now been upgraded to stable.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident or anyone who witnessed it to call (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.
