At 5:50 am on January 1, 2023, RCMP in Moose Lake was called to Sesame Street on Mosakahiken Cree Nation after receiving reports of a shooting.

Police say that three teens were walking along Sesame Street when a 15-year-old male shot at them. A 16-year-old female and a 19-year-old female were injured during the incident and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The third teen was not physically injured.

Police have arrested and charged the male teen for his alleged involvement with two counts of Discharge Firearm, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, two counts of Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Failing to Comply.

The teen was detained in custody.
