RCMP have arrested a 29-year-old Calgary, Alberta man after the car he was driving went off the road and hit two 15-year-old boys.
It happened just off Highway 9 on Donald Road just before midnight on August 10, 2018.
Police say the boys were riding their bikes on the shoulder when the vehicle went off the road and hit them throwing the youth into the ditch. One of the boys died from his injuries at the scene the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. He is currently in stable condition.
After the collision, the driver took off on foot but was quickly located by a police dog inside another vehicle on Donald Road.
Investigators say the man was impaired due to drug use and had stolen the vehicle involved in the fatal crash earlier from Winnipeg. He is facing a number of charges related to the crash.
