A 15-year-old remains in custody tonight following a serious stabbing incident involving three victims that ended in 1100 block of Grant Avenue around 9 p.m. on July 12, 2022.
Police say it looks like the incident started with a break-in at a residence in the near-by 1000 block of Lorette Avenue. The homeowner chased off the suspect, joined by another man. In the chase, the accused came across an 84-year-old woman at the corner of Thurso Street and Lorette, and it’s said without provocation he stabbed her, inflicting serious wounds. The two men pursuing him – a 43-year-old man and a 46-year-old man were also stabbed, though they were able to hold the suspect for police.
The older woman was taken to hospital in critical condition with major injuries; the 43-year-old was transported to hospital in unstable condition, then upgraded to stable. The 46-year-old man’s wounds were treated at the scene.
The 15-year-old is charged with break and enter, and assault with a weapon, along with two charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and mischief under $5000.
