RCMP has arrested and charge a male teen in connection to an armed robbery on Main Street in Selkirk.
On February 27, 2024, a young woman was leaving a business when she was approached by two males. The males produced a firearm and demanded the woman’s keys. The suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle and drove off.
Officers patrolled the area and the vehicle was located on Highway 9 near Lower Fort Garry. Police attempted a traffic stop but the driver continued to drive at a normal speed and refused to stop. the vehicle eventually slowed and entered the ditch on Henderson Highway.
Officers arrested the 14-year-old male driver. He was the only person in the vehicle.
The suspect was charged for his alleged involvement with Offensive Weapon, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Flight from Peace Officer, and Uttering Threats Against a Person.
The teen was detained in custody.
