Teen arrested for stabbing of sleeping man

Manitoba First Nations Police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old after they allegedly stabbed a male while he was sleeping.

Police say the victim walked into the detachment in Waywayseecappo First Nation on April 16, 2020, suffering from stab wounds. An officer and the detachment clerk gave the victim first aid while waiting for Emergency Medical Services to arrive. The male was taken to hospital.

The 20-year-old victim had been sleeping but was woken up as the suspect was stabbing him. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and seek help.

Officers went to the suspects home and placed the alleged teen offender under arrest. They are now Charges include Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

The suspect was later released on an undertaking according to police.

The victim remains in stable condition in hospital.
