A 14-year-old boy was arrested after he allegedly discharged bear spry toward three people near the Millennium Libray on Friday night, September 23, 2022.

Officers on foot patrol heard an argument in front of the library and as they got closer saw the accused pull out a can of bear spray and discharge it toward three people on a bench. The accused then walked away briefly only to turn and spray the victims a second time.

The accused then began walking away from the approaching officers but was quickly taken into custody. Officers seized a can of bear spray and a knife during the arrest. As the arrest was happening the three victims on the bench walked away without speaking with the police.

The teen has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of possession of a weapon and three counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking.

The accused was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code of Canada
