A 17-year-old female is facing a slew of charges, including assaulting a police officer, after an incident at a Winnipeg hospital on Saturday night.
The incident unfolded on March 8, 2025, when Central District General Patrol officers, responding to an unrelated call on the 700 block of Pacific Avenue at approximately 9:31 p.m., located the teen. She was discovered to have multiple outstanding arrest warrants.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the female was intoxicated and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition for a medical assessment.
Later, at approximately 11:50 p.m., while at the hospital, the situation escalated. The suspect barricaded herself in a bathroom. During the process of securing the teen to prevent further escalation, she bit an officer in the lower body. The officer sustained minor injuries but will require medical follow-up.
As a result of the incident, the 17-year-old female from Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order
- Two counts of Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order
- Three counts of Warrant – Fail to Comply Sentence
- Warrant – Assault x 2, Fail to Comply Sentence
The teen was detained in custody.
