A 15-year-old male is facing multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a firearm and bear spray on a Winnipeg Transit bus, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
On March 22, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Central District responded to a report of a male armed with a gun and bear spray on a bus. Police say the suspect, who is from outside the city limits, confronted another teenage male passenger, whom he did not know.
According to the police release, the suspect allegedly attempted to deploy bear spray and pointed a firearm at the victim without provocation. The victim was able to create distance from the suspect, who then fled the bus and boarded another.
Officers located the suspect on the second bus at the intersection of Main Street and Stella Avenue, where he was taken into custody. Police seized bear spray and a BB-style handgun from the suspect.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
The 15-year-old suspect is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition x 2
- Fail to Comply with Sentence x 4
He has been detained in custody.
