Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to a fire just after 7:00 am on Monday February 11, 2019 in the 1300 block of Taylor Avenue.

Flames could be seen shooting out of one apartment in the 10 storey building.

Firefighters were able to knock down the flames quickly. The suite with the fire suffered extensive fire, smaoke and water damage. Several other suites also had smoke and water damage says a statement from the city.

Residents from two floors of the building were evacuated and put on Winnipeg Transit buses to wait while crews ventilated and mopped up water.

Three people from the building were taken to hospital in stable condition with undisclosed injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
