Traffic stop on Taxi leads to weapons arrests

Two people have been arrested on weapons charges after Winnipeg Police Service officers made a traffic stop on a taxi in the area of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue.

As officers were talking to the two passengers in the cab they spotted a 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun in the footwell of the backseat. The passengers were immediately placed in custody and a search of their backpacks uncovered a second sawed-off weapon, this time a .22 calibre rifle. Police also found shotgun ammunition.

26-year-old Kyle Braden Roulette and an unnamed 22-year-old female are both facing multiple weapons-related charges for their alleged involvement.

Roulette was detained in custody. The female suspect was released on a promise to appear in court.
