Taxi driver robbed and carjacked in north end

Winnipeg police are looking for two Indigenous male suspects who robbed a cabbie then stole his taxi.

It happened around 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, near Polson Avenue and Aikins Street.

Police say the 21-year-old male driver had the two suspects in his cab when one of the suspects pulled out a sharp object and demanded money. The victim gave them cash then got out of the taxi. The suspects then drove away.

AIR-1 responded to the call and located the stolen taxi in the 200 block of Cathedral Avenue. The cab had collided with a fence and the suspects had fled before it was found.

Police say that both male suspects were thin build and of Indigenous descent. One stood 5’5″ the other 5’10”.

The investigation is continuing.
