Tactical Response shuts down Dufferin Avenue

Around 5:15 pm Winnipeg Police swarmed the area around the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue for reports of someone with a firearm inside a home.

General patrol officers and members of the Tactical Support Team cordoned off the area. Traffic on Dufferin Avenue was closed in both directions and residents were told to stay in their homes.

Officers detained and searched three people when they first arrived on the scene but it is not known if they were placed under arrest.

Over the course of the next 90 minutes, an officer could be heard using a public address system several times ordering the residents in a townhouse to surrender and exit the building.

Just after 6:35 pm tactical officers entered and searched the residence. By 6:45 the incident was over after officers found no one inside the building.
