Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old Winnipeg man after police in Switzerland identified a Winnipeg IP address as part of an investigation they were involved in.
On June 27, 2017, Officers from Cantonal Police of Aargau contacted Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit to let them know of an investigation the Swiss force had undertaken. As part of their investigation, Swiss officers captured an IP address that identifies specific locations of internet connections. The IP address belonged to a Winnipeg address.

ICE began their own investigation and on September 25, 2017, they along with officers from the Technological Crimes Unit executed a search warrant in St. James. Police seized a number of electronic devices and while still on-site they found a number of images and a video depicting Child Pornography. A forensic analysis of the electronic devices seized is still underway.
Robert Glenn Winterburn has been arrested and charged with Possession of child pornography and two counts of Imports, Distributes, Sells, or Possess for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography.
Police say that Winterburn had been detained in custody as the investigation continues.
