The Goodwill Thrift Store in the 1500 block of Pembina Highway was set ablaze after an SUV crashed through the front window just after 11:00 am on
Witnesses tell News 4 that it appears the driver of the SUV crashed into another vehicle then hopped the sidewalk and slammed into the store.

The vehicle burst into flames and caused the building to also catch on fire. Firefighters were met with thick smoke and flames and began a defensive attack until the fire was knocked down. They were then able to enter the building to continue battling the blaze.
The people inside the Goodwill store were able to get out of the building before fire crews arrived. Neighbouring businesses were evacuated as a precaution
Northbound traffic on Pembina Highway was detoured as both lanes were closed between Finch and Nesbitt Bays while emergency crews worked. The median southbound lane was also closed for some time.
The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with unknown injuries in stable condition.
