Winnipeg Police Service Bomb Unit dealt with a suspicious package discovered just outside the Police HQ building at the north east corner Graham and Garry.

Police Cadets were flagged down by a member of the public just after noon and alerted to the unattended package. The cadets looked at the package but decided to pull back and call additional resources.

Traffic in the area is being diverted as Garry is closed south of Portage Avenue.

Police do not believe that the incident today has anything to do with the explosion at the Law Courts on Wednesday at this time. They say they are treating this as a separate incident and investigating it as such.

UPDATE | FIRE SET THEN EXPLOSION OUTSIDE LAW COURTS, ROADS IN AREA CLOSED

Police say that there are no injuries and the investigation continues but the package was not an explosive device.
