Sunday evening, December 16, 2018 police came across a suspicious vehicle in the rear lane of Sheppard Avenue.
Police say that the vehicle was running and did not have active registration.
An adult male was sitting in the driver’s seat and when police told him to get out of the vehicle he ignored them and began rummaging around inside. Officers opened the door and again ordered him out of the vehicle. He eventually complied.
A search of the man uncovered brass knuckles and a folding knife. The man was also wanted on four outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police also found about 36 grams of methamphetamine on the floor of the vehicle.
Kevin Raymond Yestrau, 36 from Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possess of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X4
- Warrant – Fail to Attend Court
- Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Warrant – Theft Under $5000
- Warrant – Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 & Fail to Comply with Recognizance
