Two individuals are facing weapons and property offences after they were found inside a stolen SUV on Monday night, October 16, 2023.
Police say that officers responded to Kane Avenue after receiving reports of two people inside a suspicious vehicle.
When officers arrived they found a stolen 2021 Hyuandai Tucson that had been taken from a dealership on October 12.
An adult female and an adult male were taken from the vehicle and arrested. Police seized the vehicle’s key fob, ammunition, a .22 calibre sawed-off rifle and a sword.
Angelica Corrine Nikole McKay, 23, of Winnipeg, has been charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Porage Dumidu Dhananjaya Perera, 27, of Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Possession of a Weapon
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Both were detained in custody.
