Suspects caught in Jefferson Avenue armed robbery

The Winnipeg Police Service helicopter (AIR-1) played a key role Monday morning, October 22, 2108, in arresting two suspects who had just committed an armed robbery at a convenience store on Jefferson Avenue.

Police say that the pair walked into the business wearing disguises and armed with a knife robbed the clerk. The suspects fled the store with cash and cigarettes.

AIR-1 located the suspects in the 700 block of Sheppard and with the help of a K-9 unit the pair were taken into custody.

Eliza Marie Berrens, 22, was charged for her alleged involvement with Robbery and Wear Disguise with Intent.

Evelyn Blanche Beardy, 44, was charged for her alleged involvement with Robbery, Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon and Wear Disguise with Intent.

They were both detained in custody.
