Suspects arrested in connection to Canada Day stabbings

Police in Winnipeg have arrested and charged three males in connection to the stabbing of two people in front of the Canadian Human Rights Museum on July, 1, 2022.

Police say that the two victims were walking in the area when they bumped into a group of individuals resulting in an altercation that escalated to the pair being assaulted before the suspects fled on foot.

Member of the Major Crimes Unit were able to establish a number of suspects through witness interviews and reviewing hours of surveillance footage. With help from general patrol officers the suspects were identified.

Tyson Cole Steven Bechard, a 19-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

Jayden Kyle Martin, a 19-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon

A 15-year-old youth male has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, two counts of Possession of a Weapon and Robbery (unrelated incident)

All three suspects were detained in custody.
