Winnipeg Police have arrested a 39-year-old male after seeing him driving a stolen vehicle Thursday afternoon. Police say the vehicle had been left running with no one inside in front of a Main Street restaurant.
Police located the vehicle as it parked behind a home on Lansdowne Avenue.
As a supervisor tried to place the suspect into custody a struggle ensued and the man became aggressive towards the officer.
The officer fired a taser but it had no effect on the suspect. The man then took off his upper clothing and the officer shot him again with a taser again with no effect.
The man then ran into the nearby home and tried to hide but officers quickly took him into custody after a brief struggle.
Police say that the male had also been wearing a wig, large glasses and a hat while he was driving the stolen vehicle.
Marvin Jure Maric from Winnipeg has been charged with resist a peace officer, Operation of a conveyance while Prohibited and Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 for his alleged involvement.
The owner of the home that Maric forced his way into refused to press charges as he was
He was detained in custody.
