Winnipeg police have shot and killed a suspect involved in a number of assaults and robberies with a firearm Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
The 23-year-old suspect was being sought after he assaulted a woman in her 20s that he knew just after 11:15 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in the 800 block of Prichard Avenue. The woman was not injured but she reported the man had a gun.
A short time later the suspect pulled another female aged 50 from her car as she was pulling into her garage in the 1000 block of Prichard. The male still armed stole the vehicle.

Fifteen minutes later just after midnight on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, the male suspect committed armed robbery at a business in the 1400 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
The stolen vehicle was located a few minutes later in the 300 block of Blake Street but the suspect took off once again in the vehicle.
Using AIR1, the police helicopter, the vehicle was tracked to the 400 block of Alfred. The air unit directed tactical support officers to the scene.
Just before 1:00 am police and the suspect were involved in a confrontation and the suspect was shot by one of the officers. Paramedics took the suspect to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been called into investigate. The IIU investigates all police involved incidents that involve serious injury or death.
