Winnipeg Police responded in force after getting a report that a male armed with a gun was at a Corydon Avenue business.
Police say the incident happened around 11:15 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021, after a security guard tried to remove a male patron who was causing a disturbance in the establishment. The suspect punched the security guard in the face and then pointed a gun to his head and threatened to kill him.
The suspect took off on foot and while attempting to escape discarded the weapon. Officers located the suspect in the area and were able to recover the gun.
20-year-old Hothaifa Hassan was charged for his alleged involvement with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Pointing a Firearm, Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Assault and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
He was detained in custody.
