A 28-year-old Winnipeg man is in custody following two attempted robberies within hours of each other according to Winnipeg police.
On Sunday, February 4, 2024, police received a report around 3:34 pm that a man tried to rob a delivery driver at a Main Street restaurant. The suspect entered the business in the 1600 block and while armed with a knife confronted the driver and demanded money. Staff began yelling at the suspect and he’d fled without any money.
Less than three hours later an attempted carjacking was reported outside the McPhillips Street Casino. A man in his 40s was sitting in his vehicle when the suspect opened the driver’s door and pointed a knife at the victim. The victim slammed the door closed and the suspect fled.
Officers located the suspect on a Winnipeg Transit bus outside the casino and took him into custody.

- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
