Suspect facing 139 charges from three-month crime spree

A 49-year-old male is facing 139 charges for a crime spree over the past three months.

Police say that beginning in January 2021, and continuing until his arrest on March 25, 2021, Gregory Francis Courchene is alleged to have gone to various areas of the city like dog parks, daycares and cemeteries and wait for people to leave their vehicles the break-in and steal a wallet or purse left inside. Police said he would then steal the contents and make purchases nearby with their credit cards.

Investigators say that on three known occasions the suspect entered a house while the occupant was busy outside and stole items.

Courchene has been charged for his alleged involvement with 56 counts of Theft under $5,000, three counts of Break, Enter,commit and 80 counts of Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data.

He was detained in custody.
