A 28-year-old male from the RM of Grey is facing a number of charges, including Assault of a Police Officer with a weapon after he slammed into a police cruiser during a pursuit.
Police say that on Monday, May 21, 2018, they noticed a pickup truck speeding in Treherne, about 125 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg just before 5:00 am. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over but it fled leading to the pursuit.
It was at this point that the suspect hit the police car and forced both vehicles into a ditch. The driver of the pickup continued to evade police until he drove onto a dead-end road. When the could drive no further he left his vehicle and fled on foot.
RCMP called in their Police Service Dog “Genie” from Brandon and the suspect was captured soon afterwards.
Tyler Lucas Middleton was remanded in custody for his alleged involvement.
