A Winnipeg man has been charged with second-degree murder following the discovery of a deceased male at a residence in the 700 block of Pacific Avenue on Sunday morning.
The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a call at approximately 6:15 a.m. on April 6th regarding a non-responsive male who appeared to have been assaulted. Upon arrival, Central District General Patrol officers located the deceased, who has been identified as 32-year-old Kelsey Traverse. Police confirmed that Traverse was a resident of Winnipeg and a member of Lake St. Martin First Nation.
Following an investigation by the Homicide Unit, a male suspect was identified and subsequently arrested at a residence in the 100 block of Kate Street.
Investigators determined that the victim and the accused were previously acquainted and were involved in an altercation at the Pacific Avenue residence, which ultimately led to Traverse’s death.
Michael George Lavallee, 33, of Winnipeg, has been formally charged with Second Degree Murder for his alleged involvement and remains in police custody.
