RCMP in Portage la Prairie were confronted by a male challenging them to a fist fight on Thursday, June 11, 2020, after they were called to a 5th Street home for the report of a male with a firearm.
As officers arrived the 17-year-old male was outside the residence where he had allegedly threatened the occupants. The teen took off his shirt, put up his fists and challenged the officers.
As the suspect was refusing their commands police fired a taser at the male and placed him under arrest.
Police located a firearm inside the teen’s backpack.
The male from Dakota Tipi First Nation was charged for his alleged involvement with Assault on a Police Officer, Possession of a Firearm for the Purpose of Committing an Offence, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Firearm when knowing that Possession is unauthorized, Unsafe Storage of Firearms, Three counts of Fail to Comply and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
He was remanded in custody.
