RCMP always get their man, especially when the man gives an officer his driver’s licence before taking off.
An RCMP officer came across a vehicle parked on the side of the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Ellie. When police checked the vehicle they found a man sleeping in the back seat.
RCMP say the vehicle was not registered.
The man provided the officer his driver’s licence at which time the officer returned to his patrol unit to verify the identification.
When the officer returned to the mans vehicle the suspect had moved into the front seat and had started the vehicle. As the officer was questioning the male he put the vehicle in gear and drove off.
A description of the vehicle was broadcast to other officers and as police attempted to stop the vehicle several time along Highway 1 the suspect was able to continue to flee.
The suspect was finally stopped by member of the Ontario Provincial Police near Vermillion Bay, Ontario. Vermillion Bay is about 150 kilometres east of the Manitoba-Ontario boarder.
Mohamad Ibrahim, 27 from Windsor, Ontario was returned to Manitoba by the OPP.
He as been charged for his alleged involvement with Flight from Police x2 and given more than $1900.00 in Highway Traffic Act fines.
